English Educator, Writer and Editor

Senate-recognized Native English educator and doctoral candidate in English Studies (Anglistik), specializing in early childhood bilingual education, academic and creative writing, and intercultural communication in Berlin.

I work with bilingual Kitas, schools, individuals, and companies to build confident, nuanced English in real-world contexts.

For Bilingual Kitas and Schools in Berlin

I am officially recognized by the Berlin Senate for Quereinstieg in den Erzieherberuf as a Native Speaker in bilingual Kitas and have extensive experience teaching children from 9 months to 12 years in multilingual groups across Berlin kindergartens and Grundschule Horte. • Experience leading English camps and regular Kita/Hort sessions with partners such as Oskar Lernt Englisch, Alpadia, and Die kleinen Sprachkönige in Berlin.
  • Collaboration with German-speaking teammates and parents, including transparent communication about children’s progress in English and social-emotional skills.
  • Intercultural sensitivity informed by teaching in South Asia, the SWANA region, and Europe, and by ongoing doctoral research on language, diaspora, and social equity.
Current status and availability
  • Berlin Senate “Quereinstieg in den Erzieherberuf” Recognition (Native Speaker in bilingual Kita).
  • German: B2 (TELC Deutsch B2) with BAMF Integrationskurs and DTZ certificate; English, Urdu, and Punjabi: native.

About Me

I am an English educator, writer, and editor based in Berlin, recognized by the Berlin Senate for Quereinstieg in den Erzieherberuf as a Native Speaker in bilingual Kitas. Since 2022, I have been working as a Freelance English Educator and Language Camp Lead, delivering immersive English programmes for children aged 9 months to 12 years in Berlin kindergartens and Grundschule Horte.

I am also a PhD candidate in English Studies (Anglistik) at the University of Trier, where my research explores diaspora, language, and social equity. My research is based in Berlin and runs alongside my professional teaching, allowing me to bring current academic perspectives on culture and language directly into the classroom.

Before moving to Germany, I taught and designed curricula in Pakistan and later lectured on world literatures at Texas A&M University Qatar, giving me a broad perspective on how learners from different backgrounds experience English. I have worked with US American, Pakistani, and European students and colleagues, and I adapt my teaching to each person’s learning style, needs, and goals.

“From the very beginning, she took the time to understand my child's interests and built lessons around them. Over time, I saw a remarkable transformation—not just in his English proficiency but also in his self-confidence.”
– Parent of former student
“Rather than simply teaching vocabulary and grammar, Kanwal tailored her lessons to fit his personality and needs, making the process feel natural and enjoyable. I watched my child transform from being shy and uncertain to speaking with growing confidence and enthusiasm.”
